Linwave engineers have
designed both fixed frequency
oscillators and voltage controlled
oscillators in the 1 to
10GHz frequency band, predominantly
using silicon devices for lowest
phase noise. Above 10GHz we
have designed DR based sources,
including some VCDRO products.
Our fixed frequency design experience is based around ceramic
and dielectric resonator
oscillators realized on softboard
or alumina circuits. These
often incorporate output
buffer amplifiers and filters
to provide sufficient output
power and harmonic suppression.
Our oscillators are usually
incorporated into more complex
modules.
Linwave also has access to synthesizer design expertise including
both frequency and phase
locking techniques. Most
of our synthesizer experience
has used VCO frequencies
up to 10GHz. These synthesizers
can incorporate vibration
isolated sources for reduced
phase noise degradation and
phase hits in the field.
Outputs are generally buffered
and filtered to provide the
necessary output power and
harmonic suppression.
Linwave have two methods of measuring phase noise. A fast delay
line discriminator based
measurement system from Aeroflex
RDL (NTS1000B) which is particularly
useful in production, and
a more accurate but slower
phase detector based system
from Agilent (E5501B). This
gives us the capability to
measure phase noise up
to 26GHz. |
